About our facilitators:

Steve Munn is an Isagenix top income earner, nutritional cleanse coach, graduate from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, EFT expert and founder of ClearPoint Center.

Shannon McCarthy is a avid cleanser, artist, food prep professional and will be sharing some of her weight loss and vitality secrets.

Laura Scata is a licensed massage therapist; holistic health counselor and founder of Feed the Soul. Laura has been facilitating her clients in nutritional cleansing for the past 4 years.

Jenn Miller earned a B.S. in Exercise Science from Springfield College and has over 18 years experience in the fitness industry.  She is a personal trainer, fitness instructor and nutritional cleanse coach.  Jenn will be sharing “Exercises to Create Balance in the Body”.  All too often, certain muscle groups are worked more than others, not only during exercise, but during the tasks of daily life.  Learn a few exercises that can help offset common imbalances in the body, improve postural alignment, and help prevent injuries.

Sandra Rose Cheverier Munn

In 2007 my mother Sandra Rose Cheverier Munn was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer Stage 3. Shortly after in February of 2008, as my dad would say, “she crossed over”. Of course it was devastating. I couldn’t believe that this was happening. Who ever does? And it still doesn’t seem real. I had just opened up a holistic health center and wanted my mother to go through an alternative health route, but she felt most comfortable going with what she knew and trusted in allopathic medicine, while embracing some of the things I proposed. While I was challenged by the thought of chemo and radiation, I wanted to support her decision and knew that her belief and trust was a big part of the healing process. Unfortunately, for most of her life she had a weak constitution and digestion. After a long surgery to remove her uterus and her second chemo and radiation treatment, the cancer spread. She was so weak that she could no longer take any more treatments. She had other options that the doctors proposed, but she decided not to continue. I know that she took other people into account before herself. That is the way most moms live their lives.  A long drawn-out battle with cancer can be ugly and painful for those involved. While I did want to look into all possibilities and last resorts, I had to accept her decision. After all, that’s the way she lived her life: No nonsense. Just get it done.

As we go through life, most of us don’t realize just how much we are loved. Upon her death bed she said, “I had no idea how much I was loved. I thought I was such a bitch. I thought no one liked me.”  She also said, “Now I want to know about everyone, I find everyone so interesting, like they’re my best friend.” A deep love and opening came over her during those last days. One evening she woke up and looked over at my father with her 95lb fragile body and said, “Aren’t we silly?” with a big grin on her face. During this time she would often see vivid images of her mother Cecile, her father Armand, and brother Roger, who had all passed before her. She said they were coming to get her. I found this fascinating, because when I would try to lead her into guided imagery she would always say that she couldn’t bring her mind to create images and see things.

There’s a fierceness to living life. It’s a bitch, and yes, sometimes you need to be one. The greatest lesson she taught me is to realize that I am loved and cherished. To be interested in others from all walks of life, and not be so concerned with my self. And most of all- to be silly.

Steve with Birthday Cake!

I have mixed feelings about the topic of Anti-Aging. There is a beauty that can shine through as one ages and I relish the golden years a time to just slow it all down. But it does seem like too many people age before their time and live a life way below their potential. Science and optimal nutrition is on the verge of a major breakthrough with reversing aging. The company that I’ve been working with for the past five years, Isagenix has recently partnered up with Dr. Bill Andrews a leading scientist in the field of Telomere research. Our Telomeres shorten as we age. There like little coils in our cells and as we age they shorten. Simple put, if you can find a way to lengthen the Telomeres the cells become healthier and the body more robust and younger.

I do desire to age slowly and maybe even live into my hundreds. But it has to be with vitality and a spring to my step.  Isagenix has really helped with this especially with low calorie shakes and occasional cleansing. I once heard that there is only one disease and two primary causes. The one disease is the breakdown of the cell and when cells breakdown all kinds of health issues will arise. The two causes to this breakdown is too much toxicity in the cells and not enough nutrients being adsorbed by our cells. Bon Fire Structure

We had such a wonderful fire ceremony this past Sunday at Peter Miller’s beautiful farm, which is only a short drive from ClearPoint. Peter and I, along with friends, have been working on clearing the woods of dead trees and downed branches. With this material we built a huge pyramid structure 25′ high. Later in the evening it was a towering inferno 40′ to 50′ high.

Peter told me that as he’s gotten older, he feels inspired to leave behind a reminder of his Lithuanian routes that honors ceremony and nature’s splendor. A few years back he surveyed his land to find the perfect spot to build the sacred circle. He got out his backhoe and started with a circle of boulders, each one placed 33′ from the center. When he was finished, he had unknowingly placed 33 boulders around the circle.

In the center he set a tall yet slender sight boulder where you can look out to see the Equinox line that matches the path of the setting and rising sun. On the west side of the circle is a fire altar. The entrance is fitted with an arch- way and a charming figure made of twigs and stone.

In Lithuanian culture, making sure that there’s an oak tree within the center is crucial, as the mighty oak is what connects the heavens to the earth and vice versa. In certain parts of Lithuania, oak trees are so sacred that roads are built around them.

Peter has an incredible story and heritage to share. He feels that many of us have forgotten about our ancestral and community building traditions. We can take time to honor nature, the unseen, and each other.

Natalie Shope Griffin was our guest shaman who is trained in the traditional Peruvian ceremony. She is an incredible guide who fully embodies her work. She shares with passion  and deep reverence the Peruvian tradition of Fire Ceremony. The first part of the ceremony is making the Despacho prayer bundle. Natalie had some great helpers with this, as the children gathered around the blanket to help out.

In this prayer bundle called a Despacho, we use elements of nature to anchor our personal prayers and prayers for the healing of the Earth and all of its inhabitants.  Then we dispatch our prayers to Spirit on the smoke from our sacred fire.

In the Sacred Circle

When we came together inside the circle we started with  singing the Witchi Tai Tai song  to honor the water spirits deep within the earth. “Come and make this fire friendly, dear water spirits.” This is done so that when you go to the fire, get down on your knees and release what ever is no longer serving you, you can safely reach into the fire to pull in its transformation energy, it also helps to come with a full heart.

Youngest and Oldest

This was a beautiful moment during the closing of the circle where our youngest and our oldest elder, 86 years young, Kirby Judd assisted Natalie in placing the final prayers into the fire.

Lighting the BIG fire!

A sacred being came out from the woods with a lit torch that was carried down to ignite the big fire. It was an awesome sight to witness.

I keep bringing my mind back to the ceremony where I left behind some of my residual fears and worries. I see the fire in my minds eye and feel the courage and strength that I asked for. The fire keeps me centered, full of passion with a glow and warmth in my heart. The fire ceremony united traditions, celebrated beauty, honored ancestors and created space for community to gather. Ah ho!

About the Fire Ceremony. By Natalie Shope Griffin.

Fire Ceremony and Despacho are the traditional healing ceremonies practiced by the high mountain shaman in Peru. Fire has the power to transform dense wood into heat and light.  Similarly, fire takes solid or dense energy from our system and transforms it into light.

We will also be doing a traditional Despacho Ceremony. In this prayer bundle called a Despacho, we use elements of nature to anchor our personal prayers and prayers for the healing of the Earth and all of it’s inhabitants.  Then we dispatch our prayers to Spirit on the smoke from our sacred fire.

November 9, 2011 Storm Update:

Trees bearing the weight of wet snow.

We were without power for eight days and still have no internet. Funny- when traveling to South Africa, we were told that we would be unplugged at some point.

The day we were unplugged just happened to be the day after some scholars of the Mayan Calendar said it ended. Makes me pause and smile. Is this a preview of coming attractions or was this it?

Either way, this storm taught me a few things. I can live with less. A wood stove, dry wood, access to local water supplies, some stored food and community pulled us through just fine. Many people were left with no gas, no food, no cash, no water and little connection to community. Glad that wasn’t me.

Make sure that your gas tanks are filled, cash on hand, always have extra water, extra food, alternative ways to heat, to cook (besides electric) and get out and meet your community.

As I sat around a Fire Ceremony in the heart of the South African Karoo with author of The Presence Process Michael Brown, I realized the fire ceremony’s power. Michael said that real change and lessons come from being with the fire and watching it intently. He also said our people was given TV way to early, before we got our own vision we were given Television. Sitting in ceremony with fire is a way to connect to your own vision. It may also be a way for you to offer prayers, worship and let the Universe know that your witnessing its presence.

See a memory!

Not only did the fire ceremony (see a memory) offer lessons and insights, it showed me that I can maintain and find my center even amidst change and stress.

The fire became my focal point and the ceremony opened a portal into this world that showed me that GOD is listening and that the universe is aware of my own and our collective presence.

You must take time to notice your world, honor your existence and discover your own vision. Don’t let the man made world offer its manufactured visions. Don’t get to caught up in other peoples visions you must discover your own. Sitting in ceremony and being with fire offers a chance to connect with your own vision and maybe even with the memory of who and what you are.
