Nourishment for Troubling Times

Soft, gentle, and deep are words that come to my mind right now. Nourishment is another. So much of the world is hard right now, people are afraid and life has revealed it’s truth as being uncertain.

A place of stability can always be found in self care and in our nourishing traditions .

The modern diet is often over stimulating and our lives are hectic. It can place a huge strain on our digestion and overall well-being. A simple and balancing diet can be incredibly helpful at this time.

In this image below, from the Macrobiotic traditions, it shows where you can find the most balancing foods. The balance point falls in-between whole grains and beans. Which makes the Ayurvedic dish called Kitchari one of the most nourishing and balancing meals you can eat.

Kitchari is a simple one-pot dish composed of basmati rice and mung dal. It originated in India and has references dating back thousands of years. It has been used to nourish babies and the elderly, the sick, spiritual seekers and the healthy. It is excellent for detoxification and de-aging of the cells. We will often take a few days and eat this as a mono diet. The longer you can go, the greater the benefits. Below is our recipe.
